March
Madness is over and we’re now officially into Baseball Season for the
next seven months.  It’s also the time of year when people leave the
restaurant , wish us a good summer and announce that they’ll see us in
the Fall. They come and they go.

We thank you all for your good wishes and continued support and hope to see you very soon.

On
Sunday, April 10th at 1pm in the Front Building at the Pride Center in
Wilton Manors we will present Balanchine’s full-length ballet JEWELS in a
dazzling production by the Paris Opera Ballet.

This is the first time the Balanchine Trust allowed another company to
perform this ballet.  The full production facilities of the Paris Opera
were used for this re-creation.  In addition, several of the original
dancers helped the new soloists with the correct performance details.
Couturier, painter and craftsman Christian Lacroix created the glorious
costumes and sets which, together with the outstanding performances of
the dancers and the sensitive musical direction of Paul Connelly,
results in a celebration of sumptuous splendor.

On Saturday, April 16th at 8pm and on Sunday, April 17th at 2pm the Boca Ballet Theatre will be presenting LA BAYADERE!

This
fully staged production stars, from The American Ballet Theatre,
Gillian Murphy, Jose Manuel Carreno and Sarah Smith; from The New York
City Ballet, Daniel Ulbricht.

What an incredible cast.

 BOOK BEAT

Gita
member John Rooney has come up with a new Denny Delaney mystery, titled
UNPROTECTED LOVE.  This  new mystery includes some of our favorite
characters from previous Rooney books.  Set in New York City  our hero
Denny is on the trail of a serial killer who is targeting young male
hustlers.

SKIPPY DIES is a new book from Paul Murray.  For many
reviewers it was a favorite book of 2010.  Set in a private Catholic
boy’s school in Dublin the story revolves around the interplay of
students, teachers and parents.

Why
Skippy dies and what happens next is the mystery that links the boys
of Dublin’s Seabrook College (Ruprecht Van Doren, the overweight genius
obsessed with string theory; Carl, the teenager drug dealer and
borderline psychotic; Philip Kilfether, the basketball-playing midget)
to their parents and teachers in ways that no one could have imagined.

As
an audio book listener I need to mention that this is one of the most
dramatically produced books I’ve ever listened to and is truly
outstanding.  Using a cast of 17 performers  it’s like listening to a
radio production.

PICTURES

Pictures
from practically all previous dinners since 2003 can be found on the
GITA website.  From the home page select “Photo Gallery” then select
GITA-Dinners. If you’d like prints, suitable for framing, of any of the
photos on the website just let me know.

The Gita website is undergoing some face lifting and may, at times, be unavailable.

BUSINESS CARDS

We
are hoping to add more member’s business cards to our website. If you’d
like us to add your card you need to either send me a card or email me a
scan of your card. The more the merrier.

DINNER RAFFLE

Each
month at our dinners we have a raffle and give away extravagant prizes.
There is no charge to participate in the raffle. Again this month we
will be accepting modest raffle gifts from interested members who choose
to promote their business in this most entertaining way.

Thanks for your continued support. Hope to see you on the 11th.
