 August 27, 2016
Greetings from Gita. Hope you are all doing well and managing to enjoy our warm summer weather.  Ugh.

As it has been more than three years since our last Gita Newsletter I realize that this comes as something of a “blast from the past.” Much has transpired during that time period, but we’re encouraged to learn that some of our Gita activities continue to thrive.

The Italian Language Classes, for instance, are still going strong.
The class meets every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7PM at the restored building (rear entrance) in Richardson Park which is across from Tropics in Wilton Manors on the ‘Drive’. The class fee is $20 a month.  This is an intermediate class; perfect for those wishing to brush up their skills on the beautiful Italian Language.  Newcomers are welcome.

We’re also pleased to report that the Opera & Ballet Groups, under the capable direction of Tony Janik, continue to meet monthly at the Pride Center.  Ballet on the second Sunday of the month (September 11 will be SPARTACUS starring CARLOS ACOSTA with the BOLSHOI BALLET) and Opera on the fourth Sunday of the month (September’s selection TBA).  To join the fun please contact Tony at [email protected]

Juan and I don’t get around as much as we used to but when we do we frequently run into Gita members who we haven’t seen in ages.  It’s always a pleasure to see all of you.  We had a lot of fun times together over the years.  The most frequent question we get asked is “When are we going to have another Gita Dinner?”

So, in response to an overwhelming outpouring of demand we’ve acquiesced and agreed to hold a Gita Reunion in October on the first Monday of the month as has been our custom.  Although we have some good ideas, the exact location of this event is still under consideration and will be determined by the actual number of those who might choose to attend.  (Suggestions for a locale are always welcome.)

The purpose, therefore, of this email is to find out how many of you might choose to attend such an event.  Please hit “reply” in your email server and tell me, please, whether you might want to attend and, if so, with how many people.  This is but a survey and is, of course, not binding.

Thanks for your time and can’t wait to see you on October 3.
