June 27, 2009

Yes it’s true. Juan and I are pleased to announce that we have become
partners in Primavera Restaurant. We are currently greeting guests nightly
from 5 PM to 10 PM. As you know Gita has been meeting at Primavera for the
past four years. In that period of time we’ve developed a great
relationship with Giacomo, the chef/owner. We’re enjoying working with him
and are looking forward to big changes in the future.

Primavera is a local tradition and will be celebrating its 25th
anniversary next year. Our intention is to keep the great food that
Giacomo and Primavera are famous for and to add a more personal atmosphere
to the mix and also some popular favorites to the menu to reflect a more
casual dining atmosphere. Over the course of the summer we also plan to
add a liquor license and do some major remodeling to give the restaurant a
more contemporary look. We know you’re going to be very excited when you
see the changes. The current bar area, for instance, will become the
lounge. The design plans are in the hands of the multi-award winning

Shuster Design Associates

Associates led by my good friend Louis Shuster, who I’ve known for over 20
years since he was a customer in my first restaurant, Grand Central Cafe,
which was located in Progresso Plaza, opposite the railroad tracks where
NE 3rd Avenue crosses the tracks and become NE 4th Ave, or Wilton Drive.
Grand Central Cafe was a local favorite in the 80’s and always received
high marks for the quality of the food, service and unique ambiance.

What does this mean for you? As a Gita Member it means that from now on
you will receive a special welcome at Primavera and will always receive
10% off your dinner check and soon you’re going to have a new and exciting
restaurant to visit. (Naturally the 10% discount is not available in
conjunction with most other promotions.) You need only remind your server
that you’re a Gita Member to receive the discount. And if you receive this
email you are “officially” a Gita Member. Congratulations. Come visit us
and in addition to the 10% discount we’re offering you a Special Treat.
You can make reservations at 954-563-6363

This recipe

Primavera Chilean Sea Bass With Asparagus Crust

was featured in the Sun Sentinel this past week. It’s delicious and you
can try to make it yourself or you can save yourself the effort. Come on
in and we’ll make it for you. Yum!

And if you’ve always wanted to be part of the restaurant business we have
some limited investment opportunities still available.

Bent

The play “Bent” is being performed until July 19 at the Rising Action
Theatre, across the street from Primavera. This is an excellent production
which, I’m sure, you’ll enjoy. When you order tickets you can get a
discount by inserting Gita when they ask for a code. There is also a
dinner/theatre combo which combines dinner at Primavera with an evening at
the theatre. For Tickets:

in general, call me or any of our talented Gita member Realtors.

Mah Jongg anyone? this ancient game from China combines skill and luck and
is played with tiles. If you like cards or board games and a challenge,
you will probably enjoy it. Beginners welcome. Contact Keith at
954-446-5666.

BOOK BEAT

Lots of escapist lit this past month. I’ve read a bunch of Lee Child’s
Jack Reacher books: Gone Tomorrow, Echo Burning, and Die Trying. All well
written with good plots that hold up. Also tried Michael Connelly’s new
book, The Scarecrow, which was a lot better than his previous efforts.

Have you read any good books lately?

PICTURES

Pictures from all previous dinners since 2003 can be found on the GITA
website. From the home page select “Photo Gallery” then select GITA-Dinners.
If you’d like prints, suitable for framing, of any of the photos on the
website, just let me know.

UPCOMING GITA COOKING CLASSES

Chef Giacomo presents cooking classes frequently. For news about upcoming
classes or to make reservations call Primavera at 954-564-6363. Remember
you need to tell them that you are a Gita member to get the $10 discount.
Giacomo is a most amusing and entertaining teacher and really knows his
stuff. Class is delicious.

BUSINESS CARDS

We are hoping to add more member’s business cards to our website. If you’d
like us to add your card you need to either send me a card or email me a
scan of your card. The more the merrier.

DINNER RAFFLE

Each month at our dinners we have a raffle and give away modest prizes.
There is no charge to participate in the raffle. Again this month we will
be accepting modest raffle gifts from interested members who choose to
promote their business in this most entertaining way. Thanks to all of our
donors.

Thanks for your continued support. Hope to see you on the 13th for Gita
and at any other time you’d like to join us at Primavera.
